Our Church

"Our parish is a vibrant, welcoming and loving community of the faithful, centered on the celebration of the Eucharist. Through engagement of all ages, and living a life of Stewardship, we give witness to the Kingdom of God."

St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Parish is part of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Halifax-Yarmouth in Nova Scotia, Canada.
Our parish was formed in 2007, amalgamating Sacred Heart Parish, Timberlea, St. James Mission Church, Hammond's Plains, St. Margaret of Scotland Mission Church, Glen Margaret, and St. Luke's Catholic Community, Tantallon.  This amalgamation was a result of the recommendations made in the Forward in Faith Report.

We are a vibrant, strengths-based parish, having embraced the Gallup StrengthsFinders program as a valuable tool for building parish engagement, using their publication, Living Your Strengths.  For more information about how we use this program in our parish, visit strengths overview.
Our parish also uses Gallup's Member Engagement Survey (ME25) to gather feedback from our parishioners so that we can best meet the needs of our faith community.  To see how we have embraced the information gathered from the survey (done twice now), visit our Impact Teams page.  (Survey results, 2011)

Our NEW CHURCH, at 18 Scholars Rd in Upper Tantallon, opened June 1, 2016!  For more information about our new church building, visit our Building  page.  The vision of our new church was a collaborative effort, coordinated by our Values and Concepts Committee, which evolved into the Parish Development Committee.

They say "a picture is worth a thousand words;" please visit our facebook page to view albums from events held at our parish.  For more examples of some of the community and family events that our parish promotes/participates in and provides, visit our Community/Family Life page.

Prayer for Our Parish:

Lord God, giver of life and source of every gift, we come to you in faith and gratitude, nourished by Word and Sacraments, in our beloved St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Parish.  To see the Kingdom of God more fully realized in our parish is Your will and our privilege.  Help us always to use our gifts of time, talent and treasure wisely, and teach us to share them generously, to bear witness to the love of Christ in our lives.  Please bless our efforts as we seek to become a vibrant, welcoming and loving parish, extending the work of spiritual renewal in our parish and community.  Create in us a spirit of trust, so that as we have been given, so we will give. We pray this with grateful hearts in Jesus' name.  Amen.
